Socialism is impossible
Socialism abolishes Private Property in capital goods and natural resources. Sole ownership by the state means no trade, no trade means no market prices, no prices means no cost calculation — the Economic Calculation Problem, step by step.
This isn’t a claim that socialism is inefficient or slow. It’s a claim that it’s blind. Without prices, planners have no way to compare alternative uses of scarce resources, so they cannot know whether producing more tractors or more shoes is the better use of steel. Not “won’t calculate well” — cannot calculate at all.
Socialism doesn’t fail despite good intentions or bad management. It fails because the information required to run an economy only exists as a byproduct of the exchange it abolishes.
